Docklands Complex

The Holzhafen complex on the south banks of the Elbe comprises two office blocks in the form of a meander, and a residential tower. Radical indentations in the buildings’ solid volume emphasize its immediate proximity to the harbor. The western complex was landscaped in a way designed to echo its dramatically spacious surroundings and create highly differentiated spaces with their own particular flair: a lowered boardwalk along the Elbe, a public plateau that connects the office blocks and the residential “crystal”, and intimate inner courtyards and terraces that offer a splendid view of the docks.
