OPERATIONAL
SPACES MUC

Erfahrungsaustausch

Where are the future focal points of urban development?

The Munich model of operational spaces is based on the identification and spatial definition of areas with special development dynamics and at the same time a high need for action. The totality of all operational spaces is referred to as the action area backdrop .

Since development dynamics and transformation tasks as well as the associated spatial priorities shift over time, the action area map is also updated as needed. Six years after the initial designation of the operational spaces, the map was revised in its entirety for the first time.

On behalf of the City of Munich, we conducted analyses of the city as a whole as well as interdepartmental workshops for a data-based and coordinated update. In addition, profiles of the individual areas of action were created, including development perspectives, strategic approaches and central planning and projects. Since not all areas of action are dealt with at the same time, the profiles also serve to prioritise their processing.
