A place that is always in progress
Who really knows Berlin’s historic Mitte? The wide space between Alexanderplatz and the Spree gives only a slight idea of the historical forces that have collided here. A comprehensive analysis of the core area and the adjoining neighbourhoods revealed the potential of this crucial but forgotten place. Based on this, Urban Catalyst has called for the creation of a citizens’ forum. Together with the public, a new identification locus for the entire city should emerge between the citywide landmarks of the Television Tower, the city’s oldest church and the Berlin Rathaus.
